OUR RESPECTS...
The Dames - April 24, 2006 10:46 AM
We received word Saturday that Sid, owner of Jugheads, has passed away. Sid had always been such a great supporter of local music and the AZ Punk scene. Our deepest sympathy goes out to Sid's family.
Donations can be made through AZPunk.com to help. A memorial show is being planned for Saturday, please see AZPunk.com for details.
UPDATES

So the show at Joe's was a blast - keep an eye out on our myspace pages for some kodak moments from the show...though we missed one of Drea breaking the toilet, but thats another story...
In April we have the SLAM Anniversary show and a sweet skate deck art exhibit show coming up. SLAM magazine has been a huge supporter of the local AZ music scene and they throw a great party - we played last year's anniversary event at Alice Cooperstown and I'm told we had a great time, it's a little foggy, there was a lot of jager and whatnot *cough*...ANYWAY the show's going to be fun - There are several other bands playing, including Greenhaven (play some Slayer!) and Booby Trap.
The Skate Deck Art Exhibit just sounds like its going to be sick (the good kind, not the jager kind) - the guys over at AZPX are putting the show on with some great artists, we can't wait to rock out and checkout some stellar artwork...
We'll be taking some time off from shows end of May through June - Ms Butcher is going abroad for about 5 weeks and we have some song writin' to do!
Stay Tuned...
ANNOUNCING THE NEWEST DAME!!!
The Dames - February 24, 2006 03:18 PM
After getting back from New York last summer, (yes, I am aware I STILL don't have all the tour stories up yet...)we’ve been slowing things down to focus on writing for our new album and recording a few songs for some projects. After nearly four years as a three-piece, we decided around November that it was time to fill in our sound and started looking for a second guitar player.
We are proud to announce the latest addition to the Dames family!! Ceiz joins us with an extensive background in guitar – from classical to metal – and is bringing the newest element of aggression to the Dames, building on the direction of sound since adding Drea Doll in 2004. We met Ceiz through mutual friends over a year ago, and it’s been very exciting to be able to bring someone in that is not only an incredibly talented and dedicated musician, but a sincere and stand-up friend. Before announcing her to all of you – in Dames fashion, we had to initiate her with some jager – you can see the result of that on the show flyer....haha
In keeping with Dames tradition, its the 4th Annual Thrashley’s Birthday Bash – but this year the best part will be Ceiz tearing it up on stage with us for the first time! Come out to Joe’s Grotto on Saturday, March 18th to welcome our newest Dame and, of course, a truckload of drunken birthday debauchery. WOO HOO!!!!
Our friends Smoky Mountain Skullbusters will be kicking things off, so get there early and have some drinks with us! Back from Ashes and Terror in the Aisles will be rocking the house as well – show is 21+, cover is $5! DON't MISS IT!
LONG TIME NO WRITE....
Thrashley - February 8, 2006 12:28 PM
Well holy cow - it was flipping November the last time I got some stuff posted up here -- I cant believe its already been 7 months since our trip out to CBGB's and I still havent finished the tour stories....good god.....We've been working on some new tunes and started looking for a 4th Dame to bring in on 2nd guitar. We had some super cool chicks contact us and it came down to two... We were lucky that one was a girl I've actually known for a while - it helps when you bring a friend into the mix because we already know she's a badass chick....We'll do the 'real' announcement soon - or get your first peak of her at our show March 18th (my birthday show, woo hoo!!) at Joe's Grotto on the north side of town....stay tuned!!
PART III - "I LOVE TRAVELING IN A VAN..."
Thrashley - November 23, 2005 08:51 AM
Yeah - its a Betty Blowtorch song - if you haven't heard it, you need to. Besides being a damn good song, it was pretty much the theme song for most of the tour...
So the plan was to leave Phoenix the night of July 1 - we all had crap going on at our dayjobs, and since we all pretty much stretched the limits of the word "vacation" with our respective HR departments, we all decided to work that day -
While I was stuck at work (still) D went to go get the van. Grave9 records saved our asses renting their van to us because god knows going through a rental company we wouldve been pulling our hair out. I didn't get out of work until after 8p (nothing like working a 13 hour day!), and the running around began. We finally got down to our rehearsal space about midnight and played musical equipment tetris - four people and their stuff for nearly two weeks on the road, band equipment, backup and emergency crap (I still say flares would've made for good bar tricks) - we were ready for the last stop - taking my 1974 International Scout II up to my good friend Byron's house (did I mention I love my truck?), which incidentally is about a block from a bar...
So hell - its already midnight, may as well stop and get a drink! We proceeded to Joe's Grotto in North Phoenix to have our tour embarking drink - yeah ok, we closed down the bar.... - and finally headed out of town towards Denver....
